Happy Labor Day, Family!

Today isn’t just about enjoying a BBQ, relaxing, or having a day off (though we definitely earned it!) — Labor Day is about celebrating workers and the contributions they’ve made to building the lives we enjoy today.

Here are a few cool facts you might not know:

  • The First Labor Day: It was celebrated in New York City on September 5, 1882. Workers marched to demand fair pay, better hours, and safer conditions.
  • Why September?: Leaders wanted a holiday between the 4th of July and Thanksgiving — so Labor Day became the “end of summer” tradition.
  • 40-Hour Workweek: Thanks to the labor movement, we have weekends and the standard 8-hour workday. Before that, many worked 12+ hours, 6–7 days a week!
  • It’s for ALL of us: Labor Day honors every kind of work — from teachers, builders, nurses, truck drivers, parents holding down the household, and everyone who keeps things moving.

So while we kick back today, let’s also take a moment to appreciate how far we’ve come and the hard work that continues to shape our future.

Enjoy your day, stay safe, and know I’m grateful for all the work and love this family puts in every day.
